COMMUNITY PICNIC UPDATE
21st February 2011
Dear BPS Residents,
The time is fast approaching for the community picnic. A big thank you goes out to Kay Politano, Liz Key and Kay Gates for their donations for the mini raffle. Please note that all proceeds from the raffle will go towards the construction of the firehouse. Donated items include: a 2-Tank Dive, a Sewing/Craft Basket and a Set of 3 Parrot Posters. If you have items to donate, please feel free to contact me.
There will also be a “Buck a Book” table organized by Ann Capling. If you are looking for a few great books or would like to donate a book or two please contact her.
Committed items for the picnic thus far include:
Conch Fritters, Pan of Meatballs, Bowl of Crunchy Cole Slaw, 10lbs. Potato Salad, Roast Potatoes, 3 Cases Soda, 2 Cases Water, Dinner Rolls, Cake and utensils.
For your enjoyment a mini judo demonstration will be put on by members of the Abaco Judo Club. There are currently eight members of the Abaco Elite Judo Team who compete nationally. Five are from Bahama Palm Shores: Ashton and Lavaughn Forbes, Rebecca and Jonathan Strachan and CJ Smith. Ashton is the current Bahamas Junior (under 18) overall champion and he; Lavaughn Forbes and Jonathan Strachan are gold medal winners in grappling. Rebecca and CJ are silver medal winners in grappling as well. Hannah Strachan has recently joined the Club and based on her progress, we expect her to bring home medals in short order. The team is currently in training to compete in the 2011 National Championships which will be held in Nassau on June 18th.
If you have any questions, or suggestions please feel free to contact me.
